My Procedural Text

How to write a procedural text.

Kia ora everyone, this is another blog post about how to write a procedural text. A few weeks ago, we did this with our Deputy Principal, Miss McGrath. She told us what to do to write a good, procedural text. When she was finished talking, we went on our chrome books, got onto writing page of our site, and wrote on a Google Drawing. After I've finished a few week later, we then had to write our Procedural text on a google document, with a diagram. After showing my Procedural text to my friend, I then showed it to my teacher, but I needed to change a few sentences because they didn't make sense when you followed them exactly. If you want to know how to make a procedural text, then read the sentences down the bottom.

  • Write the title of what the game your playing is.
  • Type in how many people can play.
  • Write the equipment you need.
  • And write your steps with bossy verbs.
Here is a Example.

Wizards

Wizards is a game that originated in Russia.

Equipment  Needed:

15 or more people that want to play this game, and a boundary.

Steps on how to play

  1. Pick 3-5 people that want to be the taggers. They are called wizards.

  1. The wizards have to try and tag the non wizards by tapping them gently on the shoulder  (The non wizards are the people that aren't Wizards).

  1. When the non wizards get tagged by the wizards, they stand where they got tagged and yell ‘Chai Chai Chai’ while standing in a star shape.

  1. When one of the nontaggers survives without getting tagged, they can save the other non wizards that got tagged by touching them on the shoulder which means they are free.

  1. If the non wizards survive without getting tagged, then they win the round, but if the wizards tag all the non wizards before the time, then they win the

round.

  1. The maximum time of a round is about 15 - 30 minutes.

Summary

That’s how you play Wizards. It’s a nice and fun way of getting fit, I hope you enjoy this game with your friends.

Waikowhai Primary Toolkits

Toolkits At School

Kia ora everyone, this is another blog post about the toolkits we had at school. The toolkits that we had at school was based on S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math's) week. We had two presenter in each of the twelve toolkits. Before we had the toolkits, we had a Google form to fill in on our chrome books. the google form we filled was about what we wanted to do for stem week on Friday. I wanted to have a go at the spheros, Webcam toy, and Drones, but unfortunately we had to pick something else because someone banged one of the drones into a wall and the all of a sudden,  the rest of them turned off, so I picked Incredibox.

1. Spheros

My first stop was at the hall where the Spheros were waiting for me. We were introduced by Caleb and Morgan (they were the presenters of this toolkit). After the introduction, we were told to get into groups of four. After we got into groups of four we then got one of our chrome books, went on the bar down below, then clicked on one of the icons that had blue in the background with a white ball that is going fast. We had to use one of the new chrome books because the old chrome books does not have the icon. We got to play with the spheros and we tried to make it jump.

2. Webcam Toy

After Morning Tea, my second stop was still in the hall, but doing Webcam Toy with my two friends presenting, Daiki and Dustine. After the presentation, we got alot of time to have a play on the site where we could take photos with different types of grids. I had so much fun playing on Webcam Toy, I didn't even realize we had finished.

3. Incredibox

For Incredibox, the Toolkit was presented by Lily and Kiani. After the presentation, we also got to have a go at making our own music by clicking and dragging the icons to one of the humans, which makes the human make a beat.

That day felt so relaxing that I wish it could never end.

Please leave a comment, and blog you later.

Cultural Games

Cultural Games

Kia Ora bloggers. this is another blog post about the cultural games that I've been taught by adults. The games that we were taught were Tinikling which was a cultural game from Philippines. We were also taught how to play Pani (from Fiji), two Russian games Ruchei (stream) and the other one was called Wizards. We also got taught how to play Caber Toss from Scotland.

If you want to know how to play these games, then here are the steps on how you can play.

Tinikling

Tinikling has a group of three people, Two of the three people holds each sides of two bamboo sticks and the last person try's to jump over the bamboo sticks. When the person is jumping over the bamboos, both people holding onto each sides of the bamboo hits the bamboo once in the air and then, and then tapping it down twice.

Pani

Pani has two even teams. one team has to try and protect themselves with pieces of cardboard while the other team tries to hit them with the ball and also to try and knock down the tower before they rebuild it.

Caber Toss

Caber Toss is a game that is individual. you hold a long wooden pole from the bottom. You let it lean forward and then you use all your might and try to make it do a 12:00 cartwheel.

Ruchei (stream)

you look for a partner and you hold that partners hand in the air, and form a line with other people behind you. There should be one person without a partner and they go through the tunnel and grabs a persons hand. when you grab that persons hand, the person that was the hand of that person then goes to the front and goes and it keeps going and going.

Wizards

To play this game there should be about 3-4 people as wizards and the wizards are trying to tag the non-wizards and if a non-wizard gets tug, then they stand like a star shape. To set him or her free, another non-wizard has to tag him before he gets tug from another wizard.

Trip To Spark Arena

 Trip To Spark Arena

Hello and kia orana. Today's blog post is about the year six trip to the Spark Arena in Auckland.

When I and the year sixes entered the arena, we were welcomed by a lady who was called Suzy Cato and when we entered, we were followed by more kids from other schools. Suzy told us that she was on 'The Masked Singer' TV show and in the past when our teachers were little kids, they used to see her on TV.

First we were headed to a place in  the Spark Arena called the Happy Place. At the Happy Place, we all saw little mini slide that I didn't want to go on, but I was shocked when some of the year sixes went to have a try. When we were crossing the building, we saw the ball pit they said that we were going to play in. We went in a single line to get to have a jump and only three people are allowed to go at a time. After having to get out which was the hard part, we then were told to go to put on our shoes and start walking along the part of the building to where we saw three big boxes and each of them had an effect. One box was covered in yellow rubber duckies with a bathtub inside it, the other one had long white chains hanging above it and the last one had little mini, shining squares stuck to three sides and there was a fan in a corner to make it move and also to make it shine in every direction. After we took a picture of ourselves in each boxes we then moved on into a room that had a big fat cookie in it. It was plastic, but the choc chips were mini doors so we could poke our faces out of it. Meanwhile, when other kids were checking out the Big, yummy looking cookie, I was in the other room looking at a up-side-down bed. I thought it was for a bat to sleep up-side-down, but it was actually for a picture.

After Having fun at the Happy Place, we went back down the building to Sounds Fun. It was where we were welcomed by Suzy. Now we were going to have a play on the trumpets, listened to some music from speakers, and having a try on a device where we could play two games. We got to use a loop machine too.

And last but not least, we went to see paintings that the famous Van Gogh painted. It was a bit boring at first, but when we stayed a little longer, I started to like the interesting features of the paintings.

It was a great trip, we were very lucky.

My Training Diary's

 My Training Diary

Hello and today I'm blogging about My training diary. Us kids got this diary On the first day back at school of term two. For Inquiry, we were given these Warrior diary books Because we were focusing on Taha Tinana or Physical Wellbeing.

When we got these diaries, we started using them to show how long  we can hold a plank (maximum is five minutes), how many times we can do burpees in a minute, how many shuttles we get from ten meters and back in a minute, and how much lengths we can run in five minutes. I bet that if you get these diaries, you would be huffing and puffing. For my plank, I held it for a minute and twenty three seconds. I did eighteen burpees, nine shuttles  and for the endurance run, I got seven point two lengths.

We also used these diaries to write something positive to someone and say it to that person. We would also use these to write how long we slept for. If You had a diary, you would turn to the second page and you see something called a players detail. You would have to fill it in before turning the other pages.

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and I'll blog later next time. Bye!!!

Anzac

 Anzac Activity
Hello bloggers. today I am Blogging about a Anzac activity that we did at school.

Entering 'no mans land'
No mans land was mad out of a lot and a lot of strings, but we were not allowed to go inside the class because that was where is was made. Since it was raining outside the class they had no choice but to let us in the class. After they let us in, they told us what it was all about. We had our art books, a pencil and a pen with us. After that we entered no mans land class by class even though there were three classes.

First we started off by choosing a space between Waitemata and Hauraki which were the two classes that we spread around in. When that was finished, we did a basic facts math sheet and we had to do it under the strings with the sound of gunfire. When the time was up, I looked at my sheet and I'd say I did pretty well.

NZ Anzac Maths
For our NZ Maths, we had a sheet between two or three since me and Daiki (my friend) worked together. We had to figure out how long they fought in each war.

After that we had our fruit break and had our excercise under the strings. after eating our fruit under strings we had our excercise which was holding a plank for fifteen seconds and push ups on our knees which was what I only remember.

After having morning tea we got back inside trenches and wrote a letter to our parents as if we were actually at war. We also made a poem. you can see both of these if you press on this link.

While some people were pictodrawing, I went swimming even though it was raining.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog post and I hope you get to do this at your school too. blog you later.

Softball Zones

Softball Zones

Hello Every body, this is a blog post about when I went to Softball Zones with eight other people.
We have been practicing the past two weeks and my coach, Miss Daly (Which is my teacher) had to choose 12 people to go to Zones and I was one of them. We played at Mt Roskill Primary School. We won six matches and lost one. We thought we were going to have eight matches, but instead, we just did seven. Here are some pictures of us at Mt Roskill Primary School.

Netball Training Wk 6

Netball Training Wk 6

Hello Again. This is a blog about Netball. What the coach's (Olivia and Joseina) taught us was dodging.

First we played the same game every Netball training, infinity tag which was where we were all in so we've got to tag other people so they could bob down, and if you get tug, then you bob down and all the people you tug is back in the game. We played the same game, but we got one bib each and you have to try and get the other peoples bibs and then bob down to put in your pocket. Then you get back up to get other peoples bibs. Plus there is no goose guarding. We played another game which was similar to capture the flag, but instead of flags, we used balls. we get three balls on each team and there is a line in between the two teams. There was a team of bibs and non bibs. If the non bib team came on the bibs team side of the court, then the bibs team can tag them and they go back to their side of the court and try again if they get tug. And if the bibs team get to the other side and get  the ball without getting tagged, then the  non bibs team cant tag them if they are in the boundries. If they get tug then they go back to their side and give the ball back to the non bibs. There is another game where we have to buddy up with a partner and practice dodging them with three steps. I hope you've enjoyed reading my blog. I hope to read your blogs too. Blog you later

Lock down 4

 Lock down 4

Hi everyone, I'm TJ and I am going to tell you about my blog. My blog is going to be about my Pepeha. I did my pepeha On the first week of lock down and I've finish doing it , so I just need to practice on my pronunciation and make a screen castify.

When I got locked in my aunties house because of lock down, I felt like I would not do very much anything but jumping on there trampoline, and watching TV. So it was pretty fun.

One of my favorite school activity was doing my pepeha because when I was editing it, I thought about me respecting there culture and them respecting our (My families) culture. It was really weird but really Respective at the same time.

One of my favorite family activity was cooking because me and my dad were going to make a cake for dinner. It took about 1 hour until it was finished. when we ate , I hated it straight away, but the only part I liked was the outside bit because it was crunchy and the only part that was delicious.

When I got back to school, I felt very exhausted because I was super late and Noah (My little brother) and veronica (My little sister) were already awake and dressed , plus my mum was already at home from work which meant that it was already past 8.30 am.

I hope you enjoyed reading my blog. if you want to see more of my blog posts then press on this link.
